What should a tradie website have?
Most people who find a tradie online are on a phone, often standing in the problem: a leaking pipe, a dead switchboard, an aircon that won't start. They give a site a few seconds to answer three questions. Do you do this job, do you cover my suburb, and how do I reach you right now.
Every tradie website we build is set up around those three questions:
- Your number at the top of every page, tap to call on mobile.
- A short quote form above the fold, asking only what you need to price the job.
- A page for each service you sell, so Google can show the right page for "hot water repairs Joondalup" instead of a generic home page.
- Your service area, licence and insurance stated plainly, because that's what customers check before they call.
- Real photos of your work. Stock photos of a smiling model in a hard hat cost you trust.
- Reviews and your Google Business Profile linked in, so proof sits next to the call button.
- Fast loading on a phone, because a slow site loses the call to the next result.
How much does a website for a tradie cost?
A tradie website from Source Digital starts at $1,750 for a single page and $3,250 for a full business site with a page for each service. Every price is fixed before we start, so the number you're quoted is the number you pay. Hosting runs about $10 to $50 a month depending on the platform.
Most tradies are best on the business site. One page can work if you do a single service in a small area, but a page per service is what lets you show up for each job you want more of.

Why don't most tradie websites get calls?
When a tradie tells us their website "doesn't work", it's almost always one of these:
| Problem | What it costs you | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| Phone number buried in the footer | Mobile visitors leave before they find it | Number in the header, tap to call |
| One page for every service | Google can't match you to specific searches | A page per service you want more of |
| Stock photos | Looks like every other tradie, or worse, fake | Your real jobs, vans and team |
| Slow on a phone | People hit back and call someone else | A lean build that loads fast on mobile data |
| Form goes to an inbox nobody checks | Warm leads go cold while you're on the tools | Every enquiry texted back in seconds |
The last one is the most expensive. A study by MIT and InsideSales found leads contacted within 5 minutes were 21 times more likely to qualify than leads contacted at 30 minutes. A great website that nobody answers is just a nicer way to lose jobs.
Will my website show up on Google and in ChatGPT?
Yes, if it's built for it, and that's part of every build. We set up each service page around what people in your area actually search, write the page so it answers the question in plain words, and add the structured data Google and AI tools read to understand your business: your services, area, hours and reviews.
That matters more each month. More customers now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI answers "who's a good electrician in Joondalup" instead of scrolling results. Those tools quote pages that give a clear, specific answer, so that's how we write yours.
Showing up still takes time. A new site with good structure usually starts picking up local searches within 2 to 3 months. If you need calls this week, Google Ads or Meta ads fill the gap while the site builds up.
Do tradies need SEO, Google Ads or both?
Start with the basics that cost nothing extra: a site with a page per service, a complete Google Business Profile and steady reviews. That's what wins the local map pack, and it keeps working without a monthly spend.
Add Google Ads when you need work now or want to fill a quiet patch, and point each ad at the matching service page, not your home page. Add ongoing SEO when you want to rank for the bigger searches in your city. Most of the tradies we work with start with the site and the profile, then add ads once they can see where the calls come from.
Which trades do we build websites for?
Any trade that wins work from local searches and quotes. We've built for air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical and security (Calabreeze in Perth) and custom home building (Nailed It Creations in Brisbane). We also build for plumbers, electricians, builders, landscapers, painters, roofers, cleaners and pest control.
If you're a builder or a plumber, we've written specific guides: builder website design and plumber website design.
