Cup Filling Care is a specialty coffee window in Perth with a growing line of branded merchandise. They needed a site that felt like the physical space — warm, specific, unmistakably theirs — and let regulars buy beans, mugs and tees without juggling a separate platform. We built a custom HTML front with an embedded Shopify Buy Button checkout.

The Challenge

Where Cup Filling Care Started

Cup Filling Care’s whole personality lives in the window. The challenge was translating that in-person warmth into a site that also happened to sell product. Regulars already knew the menu; what they needed online was the location, hours, a snapshot of what’s pouring this week, and a fast way to grab beans or merch between visits.

The owners also wanted a site that felt considered — quick to load on a phone in the queue, readable in bright daylight, and forgiving to tap on with one hand holding a drink.

The Approach

Strategy Before Pixels

We built a hand-coded HTML front-end so we had fine-grained control over typography, spacing and imagery — the bits that actually carry the brand. Then we layered in a Shopify Buy Button checkout for beans, merch and gift cards so the cafe got full Shopify inventory, checkout and fulfilment without having to run the whole site on a Shopify theme.

Content was kept deliberately short. Location, hours, story, current brew, shop. The structure mirrors how a regular actually thinks about the place — walk up, look at the board, order. High-contrast type, generous tap targets, and motion kept subtle so the site stays calm on mobile.

The Outcome

Numbers & Results

The site launched cleanly on schedule. Regulars started buying beans and merch online without being pointed at a separate storefront. The current-brew module gives the cafe a simple weekly publishing habit they actually keep up with. Lighthouse performance sits at 94, first contentful paint is under a second on 4G, and the build is well inside the free Shopify Buy Button tier for their SKU count.
