What is the best job management software in Australia?
The best job management software in Australia is the one that matches how many people you have on the tools and how you bill. For most small trade businesses that means ServiceM8 or Tradify. Bigger contractors with projects, maintenance contracts or compliance work usually end up on simPRO or AroFlo, and Fergus sits in between with a strong following among plumbers and electricians.
Here's how the main options compare. Prices were checked on each company's own Australian pricing page and are rounded, as of November 2026. They change, so check before you sign up.
| Tool | Best for | Price as of November 2026 | How it's priced | Not ideal for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceM8 | Sole traders and small crews who want to start cheap | Free plan, then about $29 to $349 a month, AUD including GST | By jobs a month, not by user | Crews on Android phones, until its new Android app leaves beta |
| Tradify | Growing teams who want quoting to invoicing in one app | About $48 to $62 a user a month, AUD ex GST | Per user | Teams with lots of users and few jobs, where per user costs add up |
| Fergus | Plumbers, electricians and builders who need job phases and purchase orders | From about $53 a month (Essentials) or $77 (Pro), GST not stated | Plan price plus user options | Anyone wanting a free plan to test with |
| AroFlo | Contractors with maintenance, assets and compliance work | From about $80 a user a month, AUD, minimum 3 users | Per user | Sole traders |
| simPRO | Established contractors running service and projects at scale | Quote only | Quoted per business | Small teams who want to start this week |
| Omega CS | Businesses losing jobs to slow replies and quotes that go cold | From $199 a month + GST | Plan based | Invoicing, payments and accounting, which it doesn't do |
No single tool wins every row. The right pick depends on your crew, your phones, your job count and where your money leaks.
How much does job management software cost in Australia?
Job management software in Australia costs from $0 to about $350 a month for a small business, and more for large contractors on quoted plans. The bigger difference is how it's priced. ServiceM8 charges by the number of jobs, while Tradify, AroFlo and most others charge by the user.
These are the published prices as of November 2026, rounded:
- ServiceM8: free for 1 user and 30 jobs a month. Starter is about $29 a month for 50 jobs, Growing about $79 for 150 jobs, Premium about $149 for 500 jobs and Premium Plus about $349 for 1,500 jobs, then 20c a job. Prices are AUD and include GST. Extra SMS cost 10c each.
- Tradify: Lite about $48, Pro about $52 and Plus about $62 per user a month, AUD ex GST. A Custom plan is priced on request, and there's a 14 day free trial.
- Fergus: Essentials from about $53 a month and Pro from about $77 a month on its Australian pricing page. The page doesn't say whether GST is included. Timesheet users are extra, from about $26 a month, and card payments cost 1.95% + 30c.
- AroFlo: from about AUD $80 per user a month with a minimum of 3 users, and the rate drops as you add licences. GST isn't stated on the page.
- simPRO: no public prices. You request a quote.
- Omega CS: Self Serve from $199 a month + GST with a 14 day free trial, Set Up For You at $2,500 + GST setup then from $199 a month, or Run For You from $350 + GST a week with $0 setup.
Do the maths on your own crew. A 4 person team on Tradify Pro is about $208 a month ex GST. The same team on ServiceM8 Growing is about $79 a month including GST, as long as you stay under 150 jobs. If you do lots of quick call outs with a small crew, per user pricing tends to win. If you do fewer, bigger jobs with a bigger crew, per job pricing tends to win.
What is a good ServiceM8 alternative?
Tradify is the most common ServiceM8 alternative for small Australian trade businesses, mainly because it runs on iPhone and Android and is priced per user. Fergus is the usual pick for plumbers and electricians who want job phases and purchase orders. AroFlo and simPRO suit contractors who have outgrown both.
People usually start looking for a ServiceM8 alternative for one of four reasons:
- Android phones. ServiceM8 was built for iPhone and iPad. A rebuilt Android app went into beta in August 2026, but if your crew is on Android today, test it on real jobs before you commit.
- Job count creep. Because ServiceM8 prices by jobs, a business doing lots of quick call outs can climb plans fast. Per user pricing can work out cheaper.
- Bigger projects. Multi stage builds, progress claims and purchase orders push people toward Fergus, AroFlo or simPRO.
- Leads going cold. Some businesses are happy with how ServiceM8 runs jobs but lose work before the job exists, because nobody replies to the enquiry in time. Switching job software won't fix that. A lead response layer will.
If you're weighing up the two most popular options, our ServiceM8 vs Tradify comparison goes through them feature by feature, with costs for different crew sizes.
Which job management software suits bigger contractors?
For contractors with 10 or more staff, simPRO and AroFlo are the usual shortlist. Both go deeper on project work, maintenance contracts, assets and compliance paperwork than the small trade apps, and both take more time to set up and learn.
- simPRO suits established electrical, plumbing, HVAC and security contractors running service and project work side by side. Pricing is by quote, so get a written number for your user count and setup before you commit.
- AroFlo suits contractors doing a lot of maintenance and compliance work. It's from about AUD $80 a user a month with a 3 user minimum as of November 2026.
- Fergus Enterprise is for teams over 10 staff and is priced on request. Fergus Pro already adds purchase orders, job phases, forms, and hazard and SWMS records.
Who these are not for: a sole trader or a 2 person crew. You'll pay for features you never open, and getting set up properly takes real time away from the tools.
What features matter most in job management software?
Five things decide whether job software pays for itself: how fast you can quote, whether the crew will actually use the app, how invoices and payments reach your accounts, whether you can see profit per job, and what happens to a lead before it becomes a job.
The established job management apps are strong on the middle and end of a job. Omega CS is built for the start of it. Here's the honest split:
| What you need | ServiceM8, Tradify, Fergus | Omega CS |
|---|---|---|
| Quoting | Mature quoting with templates and price lists | A quoting agent drafts quotes from your prices and materials |
| Scheduling | Calendars and dispatch to staff | A scheduling agent sequences jobs by location, crew and priority into run sheets, and books into Google Calendar |
| Invoicing and payments | Core feature, with online and card payments | Not offered |
| Accounting sync | Xero on all three, plus QuickBooks, and MYOB on ServiceM8 and Fergus | Not offered |
| Crew time | Timesheets in the app (Tradify on Pro and up) | Crew get a text each evening to log time and expenses |
| Receipts | Bill reading on some plans, such as Tradify Plus | Photograph a receipt and it reads it, categorises it and works out the GST |
| New lead replies | Enquiry forms and customer messaging you run yourself | Texts every web form, Facebook and Instagram lead in seconds from your own Australian mobile number |
| Quote follow up | Quote reminders on some plans, such as Tradify Pro | Follows up until the customer says yes or no |
That last pair matters more than most owners think. A study by MIT and InsideSales found leads contacted within 5 minutes were 21 times more likely to qualify than leads contacted at 30 minutes. When you're on a roof, 30 minutes goes quickly.
Where does Omega CS fit against job management software?
Omega CS isn't a straight swap for ServiceM8 or Tradify. It's strongest before and around the job: replying to new leads in seconds, following up quotes, drafting quotes, sequencing jobs, and collecting crew time and receipts. ServiceM8, Tradify and Fergus are more mature for invoicing, payments and accounting integrations, and Omega CS doesn't do invoicing, payments, payroll or accounting sync.
What it does do:
- Texts every new web form, Facebook and Instagram lead back in seconds from your own Australian mobile number, asks the job details and scores the lead cold, warm or hot.
- Sends you a summary of the hot leads.
- Follows up quotes until the customer says yes or no.
- Texts back missed calls. It doesn't answer phone calls.
- Asks happy customers for a Google review and handles Spam Act opt-outs.
- Keeps your data hosted in Sydney.
That leaves two sensible setups. Run Omega CS in front of your current job software as the lead and follow up layer, and keep invoicing where it is. Or, if your billing already runs through your accounting software, run Omega CS on its own. Migration from ServiceM8, Tradify or spreadsheets is done for you in the setup.
For a Perth renovation builder on Omega CS, the result was "Over $580k in sales and $1.2M in pipeline in his first 30 days." That's one business, not a promise. See how Omega CS works, or read about our custom CRM for tradies.

Which job management software should you choose?
Pick by your business type, not by the longest feature list. The best job management software in Australia for a sole trader is rarely the best for a 20 person contractor. Here's what I'd recommend to a mate:
| Your business | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sole trader, under 30 jobs a month | ServiceM8 Free | It costs nothing. Move up a plan when the job count grows. |
| 2 to 5 person crew on a mix of iPhone and Android | Tradify | Runs on both, and per user pricing is easy to budget. |
| Small crew doing lots of jobs, all on iPhone | ServiceM8 | Priced by jobs, so adding staff doesn't change the bill. |
| Plumber or electrician needing purchase orders and job stages | Fergus Pro | Job phases, purchase orders and SWMS are built in. |
| 10 or more staff with maintenance and compliance work | AroFlo or simPRO | Deeper asset, project and compliance tools. |
| Builder with a long sales cycle | Omega CS plus your accounting software | Tracks enquiry to contract and follows up for months. See CRM for builders. |
| Happy with your job app but losing leads | Keep it and add Omega CS in front | Fixes the reply speed without moving your invoicing. |
If two options look close, take the free trial on both and run real jobs through them for a week. The crew's opinion after a week on site is worth more than any review.
How do you switch job management software without losing jobs?
Switch on a clean line: new jobs go in the new system, old jobs finish in the old one. Moving half finished jobs is where most migrations go wrong.
- Export customers, sites, price lists and open quotes from the old system. Most tools export to CSV.
- Finish jobs that are already invoiced or part paid in the old system.
- Keep the old account read only for a month or two so you can look up job history.
- Connect your accounting software on day one, and check account codes and GST settings with your bookkeeper.
- Pick a quiet week, not the week before a BAS lodgement or the Christmas shutdown.
- Train the crew on the phone app first. If they don't log jobs, nothing else matters.
Use the trials. Tradify offers 14 days free, ServiceM8 has a free plan, and Fergus lists a 14 day trial. Run real jobs through them, not the demo data. The best job management software in Australia is the one your crew still uses in six months.
