What does a Meta ads agency do?
A Meta ads agency plans, builds and runs your ads on Facebook and Instagram, then tells you what each lead cost and which ones turned into work. At Source Digital that's one person, me, doing it for businesses Australia wide, with no account manager in between.
Here's what the work actually covers:
- The offer. What you're selling in the ad and why someone should stop scrolling for it. Targeting can't fix a weak offer.
- Creative. Video and image ads, the hooks, the scripts and the captions.
- Where the lead lands. A Meta instant form or a landing page, picked for your business, not out of habit.
- Tracking. The Meta pixel and the Conversions API, so Meta learns which leads became jobs, not just which ones filled in a form.
- Weekly numbers. Spend, leads, cost per lead and what I'm changing next.
It's not for everyone. If nobody can answer new leads within the hour, fix that before you spend a dollar on ads. And if you mainly want likes and followers rather than enquiries, a lead focused Meta ads agency is the wrong fit.
How much does a Meta ads agency cost in Australia?
Meta ads management with Source Digital starts at $950 a month plus ad spend, ex GST. Ad spend goes to Meta, not to us, and most small businesses spend $1,500 to $5,000 a month on it.
| Cost | Typical amount (ex GST) | Paid to |
|---|---|---|
| Ads management | From $950 a month | Source Digital |
| Ad spend | $1,500 to $5,000 a month for most small businesses | Meta |
| Landing page (optional) | From $950, one off | Source Digital |
| Omega CS lead follow up (optional) | Self Serve from $199 a month, or Run For You from $350 a week | Source Digital |
Cost per lead typically lands between $6 and $30 depending on industry. A cheap lead isn't always a good lead, so I judge a campaign on cost per booked job wherever we can track it, not cost per form fill. There are no lock-in contracts, and every quote is a fixed price in writing.

Should you use Meta lead ads or a landing page?
Use instant lead forms when you want volume and fast testing. Use a landing page when the job is bigger, the buyer needs more convincing, or lead quality matters more than lead count. Plenty of accounts run both.
| Factor | Meta instant form (lead ads) | Landing page |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | The form opens inside Facebook or Instagram, prefilled with the person's details | The ad sends people to a page on your site with a form and a call button |
| Lead volume | Higher, because it takes a couple of taps | Lower, because people load a page and type |
| Lead quality | Mixed. Some people forget they filled it in | Usually higher. They've read about you first |
| Cost per lead | Usually the low end of the range | Usually higher, often worth it on bigger jobs |
| Setup cost | Built inside Meta, no extra build | From $950 + GST |
| Best for | Free quotes, inspections, simple offers, local services | Renovations, high value services, anything that needs proof and detail |
| What makes it work | A qualifying question or two and a reply within minutes | One offer, one call to action, fast on a phone |
Two tips for instant forms. Add one or two questions a tyre kicker won't bother answering, like suburb and timeframe. And use Meta's higher intent form type, which adds a review screen before the person submits. Both trade a little volume for better leads.
If a landing page suits you better, our landing page design service builds one page per offer, matched to the ad.
What kind of Facebook and Instagram ads get leads?
For most local and service businesses, phone video of a real person talking about a real problem beats polished brand ads. People scroll past things that look like ads and stop for things that look like a post.
I run Meta lead campaigns for our own CRM, Omega CS, using video ads and instant lead forms, and I filmed them myself. So I know what it takes to get one shot. What tends to work:
- A hook in the first 3 seconds. Name the problem, or the person the ad is for.
- Your face, your crew, your jobs. Real footage builds trust faster than stock.
- One offer per ad. A free measure and quote, a fixed price package, a booking spot.
- Several versions at once. Three to five hooks per offer, so Meta can find the one people respond to.
- Fresh creative every few weeks. The same ad shown to the same people gets tired and costs more.
I'll send you a short shot list so filming takes an afternoon, not a week. If you'd rather not be on camera, image ads with real job photos and a strong offer still work.
How fast should you answer a Facebook lead?
Within 5 minutes if you can. A study by MIT and InsideSales found leads contacted within 5 minutes were 21 times more likely to qualify than leads contacted at 30 minutes, and a Facebook lead was scrolling, not searching, so it goes cold quickly.
That's why I set up follow up before I launch ads. Omega CS, our own CRM built in Perth, texts every new Facebook, Instagram and web form lead back in seconds from your own Australian mobile number. It asks the job details, scores the lead cold, warm or hot, sends you a summary of the hot ones and follows up quotes until the customer says yes or no.
It also sends conversions back to Meta through the Conversions API, so Meta can optimise toward the leads that became real jobs, not just form fills. One result from a Perth renovation builder on Omega CS: "Over $580k in sales and $1.2M in pipeline in his first 30 days."
How I run your Meta ads
Every account follows the same six steps, and you deal with the person who runs it the whole way through.
- A short call. What you sell, where, your margins and how many jobs you can take on.
- Offer and tracking. We agree the offer, then I set up the pixel, the Conversions API and the lead form or landing page.
- Creative. I write the scripts and hooks, you film from a shot list, and I edit and build the ads.
- Launch and test. Several ads at a controlled budget, so we learn what works before spending more.
- Weekly numbers. Spend, leads, cost per lead and booked jobs where we can track them, plus what I'm changing.
- Scale or cut. Winners get more budget. Losers get switched off.
No outsourcing and no lock-in contracts. If it's not working, I'll tell you straight and we'll change the plan.
Should you run Meta ads or Google Ads first?
Run Google Ads first if people search for what you do when they need it, like an emergency plumber or a blocked drain. Run Meta ads first if people don't search for it but want it when they see it, like a kitchen renovation, a patio, solar or a new service in your area.
Google catches demand that already exists. Meta creates it, which is why the creative matters so much more. Plenty of businesses end up running both: Google for urgent jobs, Meta for bigger considered ones. If Google is the better start for you, see how I work as a Google Ads consultant.
We work as a Facebook ads agency for businesses across Australia, with everything run over phone and video calls. If you're in WA and want the local view, our page on Facebook ads in Perth covers it.
