Who is Source Digital, and who do you work with in WA?

Source Digital is a one person AI consulting and custom software business in Perth, run by Tristan Sunde. It builds AI for mining supply chains: right stock levels, every PO checked against the price agreed, and quotes done in minutes.

There are two kinds of WA client:

  • Miners and large mining contractors. Supply chain, procurement, stores and warehouse managers, and GMs of operations, whether the operation is in the Pilbara, the Goldfields or the Mid West.
  • Mining services suppliers. Businesses with 10 to 100 staff that quote off RFQs every week, from Perth or from regional centres. The buyer is usually the owner, GM or estimator.

The work is the same wherever you are. What changes is which problem costs you most.

Do you work on site or remote?

Both. Most of the work is done remotely from data exports and read-only access to your systems. On site time is used where it adds something, like walking the store or sitting with the people who use the system.

  1. Kick off. A call or a meeting in Perth to agree scope and what data to send.
  2. Data. You send exports, or grant read-only access. Nothing on your systems is changed.
  3. Build and check. Done remotely. Results are checked line by line against the people who know the stock and the prices.
  4. Walk through. On site or over Teams, whichever suits your roster.
  5. Handover. Your team approves what goes live. The AI never decides.

That means a site in the Pilbara or Goldfields gets the same attention as an office in the Perth metro area, without waiting for a visit to get started.

What does it look like for miners and contractors in the Pilbara, Goldfields and Mid West?

It starts with a free 15 minute call, then a build inside your own data platform. The focus is working capital tied up in stock, stock levels out of line, and POs paid above contract rate.

On the call, Tristan asks what you run and what is costing you, and tells you straight whether there is something worth fixing and roughly what it would cost. If it helps, he looks at a sample export of your data, read-only. If it's worth doing, you get a clear scope and price, based on the days the work needs.

The build covers a stock level (min/max) engine, a PO vs contract checker, a contract price book, and an assistant inside Microsoft Teams. Ongoing support covers monthly re-runs, fixes and new sites.

This is the same approach used for an international tier 1 mining operator, where the stock level engine matched the site inventory expert's own spreadsheet 99.8% of the time. Read the mining supply chain case study.

Why do remote sites need different stock levels?

Because lead time drives the reorder point. The longer and less reliable the trip from supplier to site, the more stock you need to cover it. A level that suits a site close to its supplier will run short at a site further out.

Min (reorder point) = average daily usage x lead time in days + safety stock

Example with made-up figures. These lead times are illustrative, not regional averages.

InputSite ASite B
Average daily usage0.50.5
Lead time7 days28 days
Usage over lead time3.514
Safety stock36
Min, rounded up7 (from 6.5)20

Same part, same usage, very different min. If both sites copy one level, one carries too much and the other runs out. A stock level engine works this out for every line at every site, using the lead times your suppliers actually deliver, not the ones in the system. See how to set min max levels and the safety stock calculation guide.

What does it look like for WA mining services suppliers?

It starts with a free 15 minute call, then a Quote Desk that drafts quotes from RFQ emails and checks every PO that comes back.

On the call, Tristan asks what you run and what is costing you, and tells you straight whether there is something worth fixing and roughly what it would cost. If Quote Desk is worth doing for you, you get a clear scope and price.

Quote Desk reads RFQ emails and drafts the quote from your own price book. When the PO comes back, it checks price, quantity, part and terms against your quote before anything ships. Stock levels for your own warehouse can be added.

See Quote Desk for mining suppliers, the guide to writing a quote from an RFQ, and AI for mining services businesses. For a Perth example of a different kind, a mining parts supplier turned 13 PDFs into 35,268 searchable pages and 94,062 keyword variants. Read the Equipment Group case study.

  1. 15 minute call. Free, no obligation, no pitch. Tristan asks what you run and what is costing you, and tells you straight whether there is something worth fixing and roughly what it would cost.
  2. A look at a sample export. Only if it's useful, and read-only.
  3. A clear scope and price. What gets built, how many days it takes and what it costs, in writing before any work starts.

Data safety

Built inside your environment, not ours

Whether you run a site or supply one, your data stays in systems you control. We build inside what you already have and you own what we build.

Inside your own systems

Miners: your Azure, Databricks or Snowflake. Suppliers: your Microsoft 365 or Google account and an Australian database you own.

Read-only on source data

We read from your ERP, inbox or exports. Nothing writes back without a person approving it.

Every number shows its working

Each figure links to the line it came from: a stock record, PO line, contract rate or past quote.

A person approves every change

Deterministic maths does the numbers and AI explains them. Your team makes the call, and it's all logged.

Talk it through with me directly. Here is how it works.

  1. Tell me what you run. Your sites, your systems and what is costing you time or money right now.
  2. I tell you straight. Whether there is something worth fixing, how I would build it and roughly what it would cost.
  3. Scope and price. If it's worth doing, I set out what I'd build, how many days it takes and what it costs at my consulting day rate. If it isn't, I'll say so.

Common questions

Yes. Source Digital is a Perth based AI consulting and custom software business run by Tristan Sunde. It builds stock level engines, PO vs contract checkers, contract price books and Teams assistants for miners and contractors, and Quote Desk for mining services suppliers. Work is done remotely from your exports and read-only access, with on site visits when they help.

Yes. Most of the work runs remotely from data exports and read-only access, so a site's location doesn't hold up the start. On site time is used for walking the store, meeting the people who use the system, and walking through results. Results are checked line by line with your own stores and procurement people before anything goes live.

Because the reorder point includes the lead time. Min equals average daily usage times lead time in days, plus safety stock. A longer, less reliable lead time means more stock is needed to cover the wait. A site further from its suppliers usually needs a higher min for the same part than a site close by, even with identical usage.

Work is charged at a consulting day rate, and the price is set after a free 15 minute call. What drives it is the number of sites, the systems your data sits in, how clean that data is and how many tools you need. Tristan then sets out what he'd build, how many days it takes and what it costs, for miners, contractors and suppliers alike.

In your environment. For miners and contractors, the system is built inside your own Azure, Databricks or Snowflake. For mining services suppliers, it runs in your own Microsoft 365 or Google account plus an Australian hosted database you own. Access to source data is read-only, and every number links back to the line it came from.

Yes. Quote Desk is built for mining services suppliers with 10 to 100 staff who quote off RFQs every week. It reads RFQ emails, drafts the quote from your own price book, and checks every returning PO against the quote before anything ships. It starts with a free 15 minute call, and the work is charged at a consulting day rate.

No. The numbers come from plain, deterministic maths and the AI only explains them. It recommends stock levels, flags POs above the agreed rate and drafts quotes, but a person approves every change, every flag and every quote before it goes anywhere. That applies the same way to a mine site, a contractor's head office or a supplier's workshop.
